C V D Diengdoh, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Home (Police) department on November 22 notified that telecom services will be temporarily suspended for the next 48 hours in 7 districts of the state owing to the firing issue in Block I.
The 7 districts include West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, Eastern West Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
In the notification, it slated WhatsApp and social media platforms are likely to be used for transmission of information which may disturb public peace and tranquility and cause threat to public safety.
