The abandoned construction of the Polytechnic Project.

NONGPOH:

The local dorbar shnong of Nongkhrah in Ri Bhoi District on July 4, raised concerns over the abandoned construction of the Polytechnic Project which was sanctioned since 2018 in the village.

The representatives of the village led by Celestine Lyngdoh, headman, have demanded for the completion of the abandoned project.

Notably, the Polytechnic Project was sanctioned at Nongkhrah village in 2018 at the amount of Rs 7 crore with a deadline of 24 months, but after the release of the first phase amounting to Rs 2 crore, the project was allegedly abandoned by the contractor.

Lyngdoh stated that the project initially aimed at benefiting the local youths and residents of the areas but it has been neglected by the state government for the past 5 years.

โ€œIt is a dire concern that the state government has been blind folded against the incomplete projects such as in Nongkhrah, this is a blatant waste of the public moneyโ€, the representatives underlined.

Therefore, the representatives of the village have put forth their demands to the state government of Meghalaya and the department concerned to take an immediate step towards the abandoned project so that the completion of the Polytechnic centre would benefit the local residents of the district.
