Jemino accuses NPP of pushing schemes

Jemino Mawthoh added that they remained in the government as a coalition partner as they want to provide the much needed stability.

SHILLONG:

United Democratic Party (UDP) general secretary, Jemino Mawthoh alleged that the National People’s Party (NPP) is pumping schemes in constituencies which the UDP has fielded candidates.

The UDP is part of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition.

“The common minimum programme which we are supposed to have as a coalition government, never took off, why? Because, the NPP is manipulative. And now at the fag-end of the term, they are trying to pump schemes through their candidates in the constituencies where there are UDP candidates, what is this? They should be respectable enough,” he said.

Mawthoh added that they remained in the government as a coalition partner as they want to provide the much needed stability.

“If there is no stability, the development will be handicapped, they (the NPP) have not respected our friendship in the coalition and now they are manipulative, vindictive and trying to pump schemes by sidelining the MLAs in the different constituencies by pumping schemes through the NPP candidates,” he said.

On the other hand, he said that there is no understanding with the Trinamool Congress and will decide about it when they “cross the bridge”.

Mawthoh further added that the party will go to the polls alone.
