Masked men set ablaze truck in West Khasi Hills

The incident took place around 1:30 am on August 7, at the road construction project camp in Mawthungkper Village, West Khasi Hills.

NONGSTOIN:

Three unknown, masked men set fire to a dumper truck and a transit mixer belonging to a Russian-based company Vozrozhdenie, which is engaged in the construction of the Nongstoin-Wahkaji road.

The incident took place around 1:30 am on August 7, at the road construction project camp in Mawthungkper Village, West Khasi Hills.

Sources informed that the driver of the dumper truck, who was sleeping inside the vehicle, woke up to the smell of smoke and flames. He managed to escape the burning truck, but one of the masked men was injured when he was hit by the door as the driver fled.

The masked men were also carrying petrol cans and jute bags, suggesting that they had planned to destroy more property and the attack was an attempt to murder the driver, destroy property, and incite violence.
