Meghalaya Day celebrated in North Garo Hills

North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, RP Marak, graced the occasion as the chief guest where he paid tribute to the state founding fathers who have contributed tirelessly for the being of the State and for its independence that has enabled the citizens to have a free and prosperous lives.

The 51st anniversary of Meghalaya statehood was celebrated at Multipurpose cooperative Society Hall, Mendipathar in North Garo Hills on January 21.

North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, RP Marak, graced the occasion as the chief guest where he paid tribute to the state founding fathers who have contributed tirelessly for the being of the State and for its independence that has enabled the citizens to have a free and prosperous lives.

“It’s a befitting day to celebrate the hard works of every stakeholder who have shaped the state to what it is today while also looking forward for a brighter future,” said RP Marak also simultaneously encouraging the gathering particularly the students who are the future of the state to take the district and the state as a whole to a greater height.

He also lauded government employees of the district for their coordination in the previously held elections and further urged their continuing support for the successful conduct in the upcoming general elections to be held soon with a target to reach cent percent voter turnout.

As part of the programme, government employees from different departments were awarded a certificate each as ‘best performing staff’ for their outstanding contribution in their respective areas of work.

Felicitation to two senior citizens of the district namely, Alinaro ch Momin and J M Sangma also took place during the programme.
