SHILLONG:

Trinamool Congress (TMC) parliamentary party leader and leader of opposition Mukul Sangma will contest from Songsak and Tikrikilla in the upcoming 2023 Assembly election.

When asked about the decision to contest from two seats, Sangma said, “There are multiple factors, the factor I would like to share with you is the overall demand and felt the necessary political strategy that is how we look at it.”

As to which seat he will give up if he wins both, he smiled and said, “That is a million dollar question.”

This is not the first time that he has contested from two seats, as back in 2018 he had contested and won from Ampati and Songsak on a Congress ticket.

He gave up his Ampati seat to make way for his daughter, Miani D. Shira which she is currently representing.
