Multimedia podcast launched to empower adolescents

The podcast was launched by the chief guest of the event and Cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh.

Shillong:

Meghalaya Health Systems Strengthening Project under the Health and Family Welfare Department launched the “Adolescents Unfiltered” podcast, during the World AIDS Day Event organised by the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society.

The podcast was launched by the chief guest of the event and Cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh.

The Media & Communications Manager of the Meghalaya Health Systems Strengthening Project, Evanylla Marbaniang, introduced the podcast, emphasising that its aim is to provide a platform for adolescents to share their experiences, learn from one another, discover available services, and to seek advice from experts.

“Our ongoing effort is to address key health issues through social behavioural change communications. We have identified teenage pregnancy as a significant concern. The ‘Adolescents Unfiltered – True Talks, Unfiltered Stories’ podcast is one of the activities under the campaign to curb teenage pregnancy and provide adolescents with accurate information to empower them in making informed decisions,” she explained.

The podcast will be accessible on popular platforms such as Spotify, Saavan, Google Podcast, YouTube, Instagram, and others. Covering critical topics like mental health, puberty, peer pressure, and relationships through candid discussions, the goal is to break through the stigma surrounding these matters.

Adolescents are encouraged to follow “Adolescents Unfiltered” on all platforms and share their experiences, stories, and suggestions to assist the department in improving its services.

The podcast will be hosted by Evanjeline Thubru and Emily Grazel Jyrwa.
