SHILLONG:
PHE Minister Marcuise Marak, on April 21, said that the government is all out to complete the Phase-III of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme (GSWSS) by this year.
He said that the project which was targeted to be completed by December 22, got delayed due to various factors.
“The government will commission the third phase of GSWSS, but due to various issues the project is stalled, however, the PHE department is making all efforts to complete the project at the earliest.” Marak told media persons in the city.
He said in some stretches laying of pipes has not been completed because of highway extension.
Referring to the issue between the PHE and the PWD, wherein the PWD is not giving permission for laying of pipes, he said that government to government and department to department issues are getting resolved at the earliest, however the major issues are with some localities, villages and stakeholders who are not willing to corporate on the project.
