SHILLONG:

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on June 23, informed that peace talks with the HNLC which was slated to be held in June, has been delayed due to the Manipur situation.

“The Government of India could not take the discussion forward because of the situation in Manipur. Be it will happen soon,” Tynsong told media persons.

Asked about the VPP requesting home minister to keep record of Manipuris entering the state, Tynsong said that the government has already instructed District Administrations to keep a proper record of the same.

“From the government side we have instructed all the district administrations to be ready to update on how many people have come to the state, and for how many days have they been staying,” he said.

Asked if the government is aware about the residents (students) being harassed by the Rangbah Shnongs despite having their college ideas and having proof of staying here for last 2-3 years, Tynsong said that he was not aware of this.

“The Secretariat is not far, so the people facing such problems can always approach us. They can come and meet me or the chief minister with their grievances, we are here to help,” he said.
