Political heavyweights only during elections, says UDP youth wing

SHILLONG:

The United Democratic Party (UDP) Shillong City Youth Wing has criticised that the arrival of leaders of national parties only in the run-up to the elections.

In a statement issued here on December 16, the general secretary of the Shillong City Youth Wing, Desmond K.L Mawlong said this indicate that they recognise the state only during crucial election periods.

Mawlong also urged the public to not fall for schemes introduced by political parties in the state.

“We believe that the people of the state are wise and know the facts and find out where have these schemes been in the last four years but have surfaced suddenly two months before the election,” he said.

“As a youth wing, we want to ask whether the public need these benefits only before the examinations,” he remarked.
