Rape accused of minor gets 14 years imprisonment by Tura court

A meticulous investigation conducted by UB woman police sub inspector Sildha N Marak led to the framing of charges on 31st of August, 2018.

A man who lured and raped a minor girl five years ago has finally faced justice with a special POCSO court in Tura sentencing him to 14 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand rupees, this week.

The accused Saddam Hussain of Pushkunipara village of Bholarbhita in Phulbari region of West Garo Hills had sexually assaulted the child when she had gone to play with her friends in a playground near their home on the evening of June 23, 2018.

A meticulous investigation conducted by UB woman police sub inspector Sildha N Marak led to the framing of charges on Augiust 31, 2018.

After completion of trial, the court of special judge POCSO found the accused guilty and convicted him. Subsequent to the judgement, the court sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for a period of 14 years and a Rs 10,000 fine.

In the event of default of payment of the fine, the convicted rapist would have to spend an additional three months of simple imprisonment, announced the POCSO Court in Tura.
