President of the Seng Samla Kitborsing Lyngdoh has expressed concerns over the rise in such cases but rued the silence of the public in this regard.

MAWKYRWAT:

The Seng Samla Mawkyrwat, on August 12, met the officer in charge of Mawkyrwat Police Station over the rise in theft cases in the Mawkyrwat market in South West Khasi Hills district.

Shopkeepers and residents have been robbed, and their money bags snatched by unknown persons at the marketplace on several occasions.

President of the Seng Samla Kitborsing Lyngdoh has expressed concerns over the rise in such cases but rued the silence of the public in this regard.

He said though many people have become victims of such cases, only a few have come forward to complaint, adding that this silence is making the police’ effort in curtailing the crime difficult.
