The office of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Mawkyrwat Branch, South West Khasi Hills District was in a mess after unknown miscreants managed to break in and stole a few documents and things.
According to the Superintendent of Taxes, In-charge KHADC Mawkyrwat Branch, Shandor Tiewsoh, the date of the incident is yet to be ascertained but assumed that it could be on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday when the office was empty.
It was found that the locks of several rooms on the top floor were broken. The thieves also broke the lock of the Superintendent’s room and the room where documents pertaining to professional taxes are processed was ravaged and some documents were also found missing, besides other items.
The investigation is still on to find out whether this was a normal theft or an agenda-driven case.
