TURA:

The West Garo Hills district administration will withdraw Section 144 CrPC from Friday morning following a return to normalcy across the town which, just three days ago, witnessed widespread rioting outside the chief minister’s mini secretariat on Monday night while Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma was inside holding talks with the ACHIK and some other organisations.

However, night curfew across the town remains in place for the fourth night, on Thursday, to prevent anti-social elements from taking advantage.

West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Chelani announced that Section 144 CrPC would be withdrawn from 5 am of Friday in and around Tura town.

“No reports of anti-social elements were found which could jeopardise the  peace and tranquility of Tura town and the situation can now be declared normal and stable,” stated the deputy commissioner.

The reinforcements of central paramilitary force personnel from the BSF that were deployed for law and order duty after the attacks on Monday night have also been withdrawn on Thursday evening itself, the order of the DC mentioned.
