SHILLONG:

At least seven faithfuls proceeding for  a Church service in Lyngkhoi under East Khasi Hills district were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in  fell into a gorge on Sunday morning.

“The vehicle (ML 05 6 4420) was travelling from Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills district to Lyngkhoi for attending the KJP Synod Sepngi service. On reaching Lyngngai village in a short curve, suddenly it fell into the gorge about 50 meters deep,” East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Raghvendra Kumar said.

The SP also said that seven persons, including the driver, were reported to be injured but the extent of injuries was not known as the injured persons were shifted to hospital by the ambulance with the help of the Synod volunteers.
