NONGPOH:
National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from Jirang, Sosthenes Sohtun, on February 21 said that the constituency has witnessed an all round development ever since people elected the NPP during the 2018 Legislative Assembly Election.
Sohtun, who was addressing a rally at the Byrnihat Sports Association ground in Byrnihat, Ri Bhoi District, said Jirang constituency had been neglected for decades but now there is a huge growth and people are getting benefits.
He also said that the constituency needs to develop further and that there are projects that are still pending as they could not be fulfilled within the five years of his tenure, and urged the people to vote for NPP.
During his speech, he lashed out at other political parties for misleading the people of Jirang and creating communal hatred among the non-tribal communities residing there by saying that if the NPP wins they will not receive any benefits.
The public rally at Byrnihat, which was attended by thousands of people, also saw hundreds of party workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and United Democratic Party (UDP) join the NPP camp in support of its candidate for the upcoming Assembly election. Among those who attended the gathering were Jirang MDC Victor Rani, NPP Ri Bhoi District president Clement Mawlong, Thomas Mallai, Nickle R Marak and others.
