BJP leader and former cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai Sanbor Shullai

SHILLONG:

BJP leader Sanbor Shullai on Thursday slammed Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Vincent H Pala for his “divided house” remark, saying that he himself was responsible for the downfall of the Congress in Meghalaya.

Referring to Pala’s appointment as the MPCC president, Shullai accused the Shillong MP of quietly ‘bringing a sword from Delhi’ which subsequently led to the 12 MLAs merging with the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).

“You (Pala) have brought the sword without consulting with your MLAs, MDCs, and your party functionaries. Quietly you brought the sword from Delhi, the sword in the form of appointment as the president (of the MPCC),” he said while adding that this had led to the Congress MLAs to leave the party and merge with the AITC. “Therefore, he has to think first about himself before he starts criticising others,” Shullai warned.
