SHILLONG:
Meghalaya Arm-Wrestling Association in a press conference on August 17, at Shillong Press Club, requested the state sports department to come to their aid regarding sponsorship in order to be able to take part in the 43rd World Arm-wrestling Championship to be held in Turkey from October 14 to 23, 2022.
Talking to the Meghalayan over phone, Alan S Marbaniang, one of the participating arm-wrestler and organisers of the tour, said, “we have submitted our proposal to the Sports Department but till date we have not got any positive feedback. As we have to deposit the amount by August 20, so we kindly request the concerned authority in sports department to look into this matter at the earliest.”
Marbaniang also said that, the association is seeking sponsorship for 11 individuals including 9 players and 2 officials. Help from any private organization or well-wisher is also welcome as they are fighting against time to submit their participation fees.
The name of the arm-wrestlers are, Alan S Marbaniang, Kishore Chettri, Everson Thangkhiew, Angel Merry Mylliem Umlong, Airikymenlang Lyngdoh, Margaret Pathaw, Alexander Lyngdoh, Hubert Paliar, Banshan Terang. Mainbor Khyriem(Refree /Official) and Nick Nonglyer(Refree).
