SHILLONG:

The state Cabinet, on December 13, approved an amendment for extending the delegation of financial powers to the Meghalaya Public Services Commission (MPSC).

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma told reporters that the decision has been taken to ensure that the MPSC can function smoothly.

According to him, earlier the Commission had to take necessary approvals even for renting of halls or expenditures for conducting the examinations and this really hindered its functioning.

“Hence, by giving them necessary financial powers now they will independently be able to conduct the examinations smoothly and make decisions on other expenditures without having to take permission,” he said.
