State filmmakers upset with YouTuber over “Ha U Prah” chant

President of the association Commander Shangpliang said, “The advantage taken by people asking him to imitate the prah chant came to us as a surprise. Sanjay Mishra does not know the meaning also, he thought it was for loving and respecting the community. He does not want any controversy out of it though.”

SHILLONG:

A day after a viral video showing Bollywood actor and comedian Sanjay Mishra echoing “Ha U Prah” chant, The Meghalaya Filmmakers Association has condemned this act perpetrated by a local YouTuber at U Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong.

President of the association Commander Shangpliang said, “The advantage taken by people asking him to imitate the prah chant came to us as a surprise. Sanjay Mishra does not know the meaning also, he thought it was for loving and respecting the community. He does not want any controversy out of it though.”

He said that Mishra is unhappy over the video and Shangpliang requested the concerned YouTuber to take down the video.

In the video, the YouTuber was caught asking Mishra to repeat after him as he chanted “Ha U Prah” – which is a symbol of a political party in the state – the Voice of the People Party (VPP).

Shangpliang also informed that Bollywood actress Vidya Balan will likely shoot some scenes in Shillong.

“We expect the government to come up with a policy so that there will be no hassles when film stars arrive for shooting here in the state,” he said.
