Nongstoin:

Farmers of Tiehbah village in West Khasi Hills district are reeling from the devastating impact of a sudden heavy downpour that swept through the region on Thursday afternoon, destroying their harvested rice crops.

The unexpected rain, which began around 2 pm, caught the farmers off guard and washed away the grain that they had collected and prepared for drying in their fields.

Every year, November brings immense joy and contentment to the farmers of West Khasi Hills as they witness the fruits of their labour in the form of bountiful rice harvest.

However, this year’s harvest has been cruelly snatched away by nature’s fury, leaving the farmers heartbroken and facing severe financial losses.
