NONGSTOIN:
A truck carrying food items under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) toppled bad fell into the nearby paddy field after a section of the road from Mawsainwir to Mawkynrang under Mawthadraishan constituency caved in due to the deplorable condition of the said road on August 7.
Residents informed that this road has caused a lot of inconveniences for the general public, especially during rainy seasons. This road links five to six villages with the rest of West Khasi Hills district.
It was reported that many light motor vehicles often face the brunt of incessant rains as this road would become muddy with large holes, unseen during rainy seasons.
The truck, with the registration number ML06 A0373, was the latest vehicle to face this mishap. Along with the truck, the food items were also seen scattered across the field and had to be collected and transported by another vehicle.
