SHILLONG:
Two missing minor girls from Shillong were found in the West Karbi Anglong district of Assam. on Saturday.
Two separate complaints were filed at Pasteur Beat House on May 26 that two girls – a 13-year-old girl from Golflinks Khliehshnong and a 15-year-old girl from Pynthorbah had gone missing.
Both FIRs were immediately registered with the Sadar police station.
East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger on investigating the matter said it appeared that the girls may have gone together as they knew each other.
All efforts were made to find the girls but the police could not find any clue to indicate their whereabouts. Meanwhile, look-out notices were subsequently sent all over the country.
“However the Missing Desk of East Khasi Hills led by Havaldar Sanjit Pandey and IO of the case SI Topon Marak left no stone unturned and through a lot of hard work found the girls today in Tumpreng West Karbi Anglong in one of their relatives’ house,” Nongtnger said on Saturday.
Further, the SP stated that the reasons and circumstances that led to the two girls running away from their homes will be thoroughly investigated.
