Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge Public Works Department (Roads) Prestone Tynsong

SHILLONG:

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in-charge Public Works Department (Roads) Prestone Tynsong has proposed four-laning the economic corridor from Umroi junction in Ri Bhoi to Ratacherra in East Jaiñtia Hills.

“Even for the government of India this is a priority,” Tynsong told the House during the Question Hour in the ongoing budget session of the Meghalaya Assembly on March 23.

He further informed that the feasibility report has been completed and preparation of the detailed project report is under way.

Tynsong said that this is a feeder road since it connects Silchar with Guwahati.

He also informed that land acquisition for the four-laning project is under way; once the government financially compensates the landowners, the authorities will hand over the land to the company.
