Prof GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM and Mr V K Mishra, Director of ICAR Meghalaya signed and exchanged the MoU

The University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ICAR Research Complex (NEH Region) for the promotion of students’ training and quality post-graduate research in cutting-edge areas through collaborative work in the fields of common research interests and allied activities by the two institutions.

The MoU was signed at the ICAR complex at Umiam by USTM vice chancellor Prof GD Sharma and Director of ICAR Meghalaya, VK Mishra in the presence of officials of both organizations on Tuesday.

In this context, Prof GD Sharma said, “USTM will recognize ICAR as an Institute for conducting research related to the thesis requirement of the research students. The University will recognize scientists of the ICAR Institute as recommended by its Director, following the University rules and regulations for guiding students working for degrees”.

Sharma stated that research instrumentation and library facilities with the ICAR and the USTM would be available to the faculty and research scholars. There will be an exchange of students for academic, research and training purposes. “All those who wish to register as trainees or for Master/Doctoral programme under this MoU must apply for admission at the USTM”, he added.

As per the MoU, the Advisory Committee will meet at least once a year alternatively to review the activities. This meeting will include a presentation on the academic and research activities, which will be open to the students, faculty and scientists.
