NONGPOH:
Giving a must-needed boost to the Congress’ prospects in the upcoming 2023 Assembly polls in Ri Bhoi, over 15 leaders and locals from the Umroi constituency in the district joined the party at Bhoirymbong, on May 5.
Led by leaders GS Shadap, Josaia Shadap and Rangkynsai Rympeit, the new joiners were welcomed into the party’s fold in an event that was attended by Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice president P Lyngkhoi, MPCC working President, P N Syiem and Ri Bhoi district president and member of district council (MDC) of Mawhati, Charles Marngar.
Expressing his gratitude to the local residents of Umroi for joining the Congress party, Syiem said that the decision of the people to join the Grand Old Party implies that the party has contributed immensely towards the state’s welfare and the people acknowledge it.
“The Congress party will continue to fight for the people of the state, especially in the upcoming election, to come back to power so that more development and welfare work could be done for the people as per the manifesto of the Congress party,” said Syiem.
The induction ceremony was convened by the ad hoc secretary, Isynei Hinge and the development is expected to contribute towards strengthening the party ahead of the polls.
