RTI activist Disparsing Rani has urged the state government to take notice of the vacant posts in different government departments.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he said there are over 1708 vacant posts in the different state government departments while the largest number — 547 posts — is in the Health department. He listed the departments alongside the vacant posts.
Water resources department β 183, Directorate of Statistics β 133, Directorate of Horticulture β 31, Directorate of Agriculture-35, Directorate of Soil and Water Conservation β 226, Directorate of Commerce and Industries -113, Directorate of Printing and
Stationery -148, Directorate of Sports-30, 11 posts of Joint Secretary and 3 posts of Deputy Secretary in the Personnel Department, Meghalaya State rural Livelihood Society-90, Health department-547, Forest department-97, PWD-19, Education department-26, Directorate of Community and Rural Development β 16.
He further informed, βAs for the health department, I am yet to get the report from East Khasi Hills Department, Tura, and Jowai.β
βThe government should do something within one year as there are too many vacant posts. If not, I will be compelled to file a PIL in the interest of the young people, β he added.
