GUWAHATI:
The Assam Police seized 477 kg of ganja from Khakrajan under Bokajan Police Station in Karbi Anglong district on July 15 morning and also arrested one person in connection with the case.
“Acting on a tip off, a naka was set up at Khakrajan by a team of Barpathar police station along C 20 CRPF camp Bokajan. At about 6.30 am a truck bearing registration no NL01 A 0164 was intercepted which was coming from Dimapur side,” said John Das, SDPO, Bokajan.
“On carrying out a thorough search of the vehicle, 46 packets of ganja weighing 477 kg (4.77 quintals) were recovered which were concealed in the external cabin hood of the truck,” Das said.
The arrested person has been identified as Ram Chandra Yadav (57), a permanent resident of Saraya in Mirzapur district of UP with family in Beltola Tini Ali in Guwahati.
