SHILLONG:
Cabinet Minister Marcuise Marak, on December 19, said that Agatha Sangma will be re-elected from the Tura Lok Sabha (LS) seat given the developmental works undertaken up by her as an MP.
“She will definitely win because so many centrally-sponsored projects have been completed and sanctioned in the Garo Hills. People have benefitted greatly through these schemes, so I see no reaction of her not being elected,” Marcuise told reporters.
Arguing that there have been no lapses in any of the central government projects, Marak questioned the opposition on the projects that have been neglected by the government.
Asked about the close fight between Deborah Marak and Agatha Sangma in the last Lok Sabha election, and Agatha winning the 2019 election by just a slight margin, Marcuise said that Deborah’s popularity was high in the last LS polls, for which she did garnered competitive votes but now her (Deborah) appeal has gone down.
