Aspiring candidate promises to bring back coal mining in EJH

A recipient of the prestigious award for forest preservation for the state and former leader of Jaiñtia Youth Federation, Damewanhi L Rymbai announced that he will be contesting from Khliehriat constituency.

An aspiring candidate from Khliehriat constituency in East Jaintia Hill district for the 2023 assembly election has promised to bring back coal mining, which is the bread and butter of the people from the area, if voted to power.

A recipient of the prestigious award for forest preservation for the state and former leader of Jaiñtia Youth Federation, Damewanhi L Rymbai announced that he will be contesting from Khliehriat constituency.

The seat is presently held by minister Kyrmen Shylla.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Rymbai said that he would be willing to contest from the Aam Aadmi Party but if the party was not willing to put up candidates in the state, then he would be contesting as an Independent candidate.

Rymbai also said if he could come out victorious, he would improve the situation in his constituency such as illiteracy, poor health care, unemployment and providing pure drinking water among others and also vowed to make Wapung village the model village and Khliehriat the model town.

Rymbai is a teacher and former president of Jaiñtia Youth Federation (JYF). He is also an active member of Moolamylliang, Bahkhla clan.
