The meeting also resolved to hold a state-level convention of all political parties in Guwahati on April 9 to take the message of the meeting to the grassroots-level workers of all the parties.

GUWAHATI:

Altogether 10 political parties have joined hands together to oust the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government and restore democracy in the state.

Ten political parties – Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Jatiya Dal Assam, Raijor Dal, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), CPI, CPI-ML, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) held a meeting at Hotel Lily on March 10 and discussed the prevailing political situation in the state.

The meeting also resolved to hold a state-level convention of all political parties in Guwahati on April 9 to take the message of the meeting to the grassroot level workers of all the parties.

“We have discussed the burning issues of the state in the meeting. We are chalking out a joint strategy to oust BJP-led government and restore rule of the law in the state,” APCC president Bhupen Kumar Borah told reporters after the three-and-a-half hour-long meeting.

The meeting was convened by the APCC, in which Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan and Raijor Dal MLA Akhil Gogoi also took part.

“The meeting also resolved to fight against anti-people and anti-constitutional policies of BJP-led government in the state,” Borah said.

However, leaders of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Aam Admi party (AAP) and All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) were not invited to the meeting.

“We have already clarified our stand on the activities of AIUDF. Today’s meeting also resolved a similar opinion on the party,” Bora also said.

“AAP and AITC are national political entities and there was no talk initiated by our party with them. If our party decides to hold a talk with them and they express interest to join us, then they will be invited,” Bora added.
