GUWAHATI:

A team from the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (VAC) wing of Assam Police arrested a school headmaster for accepting Rs 30,000 bribe from a teacher for updating the Service Book and for issuing Last Pay Certificate (LPC) of the complainant.

The person identified as Didarul Islam was arrested from Hatimoria MV School, Moirabari, in Assam’s Morigaon district after the complainant had approached the VAC, and a trap was laid to catch the person.

“Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached this VAC for taking necessary legal action against the headmaster. A trap was laid by a team of the VAC at Hatimoria MV School. Didarul Islam was caught red-handed at 12:42 pm in the teacher’s common room of the school, soon after he accepted the demanded bribe,” a statement from the Assam police read.
