An elderly person mentioned how he and Mawlong worked hard during the first election. “Since the beginning of Umroi constituency we started the race together as brothers, he was two year older than me. At that time the Umroi constituency was big stretching from Mawbri to Umraleng to Umsning to Umtngam to Mawbsein, Klew to Mawkduk and so on. Sometime people would throw stones at us, but the best part is that Bah Heh (EK Mawlong) was a kind-hearted person and with his kindness he won the election five times.”
On behalf of the family, George B Lyngdoh, who is the MLA of Umroi constituency, expressed his gratitude to the well-wishers who spent their precious time with them on the 14th death anniversary of their father.
“It’s a great pleasure that we got a chance to release the book, which is a life story of our father, a small boy from Mawmih to become the seventh chief minister . The speciality of this book is that it tells the political history of our state, and as we celebrate our 50th Statehood it is the right time.
Lyngdoh also said “The book was written by our brother Bahrit with the help of Synod College Shillong for the research on the life story of our father”.
He mentioned that the final review copy of the book before it was printed was sent by Ferdinand around 11 am on October 2 2021. “I received the final review copy of this book, and after a few minutes I received the sad news that he’s no more with us,” he said.
