Businessman murdered in Guwahati Hotel; suspects arrested in love triangle case

The victim was identified as Sandeep Suresh Kamble (44), a frequent traveller for business purposes. His check-in records revealed that he arrived at the hotel earlier that day in the company of a woman identified as Anjali Shaw (25).

GUWAHATI:

A routine check on the well-being of a guest at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati on February 5 turned into a grisly discovery as hotel management stumbled upon a gruesome scene in Room No 922. Sandeep Suresh Kamble, a businessman from Pune, was found lying lifeless in a pool of blood.

Authorities were immediately notified, prompting the response of law enforcement personnel, including DCP West Guwahati and his team. Upon arrival, it was evident that the victim had succumbed to his injuries, with blood stains littering the room.

An investigation was initiated, leading to the registration of a case under Section 302/34 IPC. Forensic teams from FSL, Guwahati, and fingerprint experts from CID were summoned to the scene to gather crucial evidence.

The victim was identified as Sandeep Suresh Kamble (44), a frequent traveller for business purposes. His check-in records revealed that he arrived at the hotel earlier that day in the company of a woman identified as Anjali Shaw (25).

Further scrutiny of CCTV footage uncovered the presence of another individual, Vikash Kumar Shaw (23) who was lodged in the same hotel at Room No 1024. The footage revealed the movements of the suspects (Anjali and Vikash), who were seen leaving the hotel premises shortly after the incident. Their identities were circulated among law enforcement agencies, leading to their interception en route to LGBI Airport.

An interrogation of the suspects yielded a startling sequence of events. Kamble’s relationship with Anjali Shaw, a store manager from Kolkata, had soured over time due to his relentless attempts to coerce her into marriage. Shaw, in collaboration with her boyfriend Vikash Shaw, devised a plan to confront Kamble and retrieve incriminating evidence.

The trio met in Guwahati under false pretences, with the intention of incapacitating Kamble and seizing his belongings. However, a confrontation ensued, resulting in Kamble’s demise.

Authorities recovered key pieces of evidence, including blood-stained clothing worn by the suspects and the victim’s mobile phone. Additionally, items used in the commission of the crime, such as bhang-infused laddoos and sleeping pills, were seized from the suspects’ possession.

Anjali Shaw and Vikash Kumar Shaw have been taken into custody, facing charges related to the murder of Sandeep Suresh Kamble.
