Central Agricultural University hosts two-Week training on natural farming in collaboration with NAHEP

The training program being supported by NAHEP would be held at CAU, Imphal, as the center, according to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.

NONGPOH:

A two-week training program on “Natural Farming Present status and future prospects” is being organised by the Central Agricultural University in Imphal, Manipur, in partnership with NAHEP, ICAR, New Delhi, at the College of Agriculture in Kyrdemkulai, Meghalaya, from August 28 to September 10, 2023.

35 faculty members from the Central Agricultural University’s constituent colleges, as well as faculty from the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalay in West Bengal, the Assam Agricultural University in Jorhat, and the Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar. Imphal attended the training session. During the program, lectures and tutorials will be given by more than thirty resource people from all over the nation who are well-known on the international stage.

The training program being supported by NAHEP would be held at CAU, Imphal, as the center, according to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. With the prospect of a UG Degree Programme in Natural Farming being implemented across the country, the National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) aims to develop and extend the skills of the teachers for effective execution of the courses on Natural Farming.

Today was the first day of the two-week training session, which was presided over by Dr. Anupam Mishra, the vice chancellor of CAU, Imphal. The program’s course director and dean of the College of Agriculture in Kyrdemkulai, Prof. Dwipendra Thakuria, welcomed the guests and participants right away. Sangathan Mantri, Bharativa Kisan Sangh, India, and All India Organizing Secretary Dinesh Kulkarni attended the event as the chief guests. Manoj Solanki, Farmers’ Representative, Natural Farming Practitioner, and ICAR Governing Body. Both Dr. V.K. Mishra, Director of the ICAR RC for the NEH Region in Umiam, Meghalaya, and Prof. PP. Shastry, Retired Dean of the College of Agriculture in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, attended the occasion as guests of honor.

The dignitaries also published Volume 1 of the “Handbook on Natural Farming: Principles and Practices” during the program’s opening ceremony. The vote of thanks was given by Prof. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education at CAU, Imphal.
