SHILLONG:

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on February 7, distributed cheques to 120 Self-help Groups (SHGs) and beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY-WDC 2.0) at the State Convention Centre, alongside Minister of Soil and Water Conservation of Meghalaya Marcuise N Marak.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Sangma conveyed that though the state is blessed with its natural resources, management of water resources has been a challenge.

“Therefore, various Departments have been working towards water management and the PMKSY WDC 2.0 through its activities for Watershed Management, Natural Resources Management (small check dams, ponds, bunds, tanks), Afforestation, Agricultural Improvement Programme, and Livelihood and Income Generation Activities will be a major step in water management efforts in our State,” he said.

“I encourage the SHG members to utilise the seed money judiciously to ensure success of the programme,” the chief minister added.
