SHILLONG:
CLP leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh on Friday informed that the Congress will soon meet to decide on the candidates for both Shillong and Tura parliamentary seats.
“We will have a meeting very soon. We have already issued application forms and those who would like to contest can apply,” Lyngdoh told reporters.
He said the election committee will immediately sit once applications are received.
He said even sitting Shillong MP will apply for a ticket as the party has a process to follow.
“Nobody can take for granted that I am a sitting MP or MLA or MDC, ticket will automatically be theirs. We have a process. Normally the sitting candidates, unless they express inability to contest and for other reasons, it (ticket) goes to the sitting candidate but as a process, we still invite ticket application,” Lyngdoh added.
