Conjunctivitis crisis: Ri Bhoi District’s Synjuk holds talks with DC

In a press conference, BB Makdoh, Chairman of Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong, voiced concern over the increased prevalence of eye disease. Many people are staying at home and missing work, and students are also missing school as a result of the disease.

NONGPOH:

The Synjuk of Rangbah Shnong Ri Bhoi District met with the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi Arpit Upadhyaya on August 28 to address the growing number of conjunctivitis cases in the district.

In a press conference, BB Makdoh, Chairman of Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong, voiced concern over the increased prevalence of eye disease. Many people are staying at home and missing work, and students are also missing school as a result of the disease.

The Synjuk requested that the Deputy Commissioner dispatch a health department team to communities and schools to assess sickness. They also requested doctor-prescribed drugs, citing the fact that not everyone can afford the black sunglasses advised by the government. The Synjuk encouraged the government to give sunglasses in the same way that masks were provided during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Furthermore, the Synjuk raised the problem of costly land registration. The hefty registration fees frequently exceed the real land worth, producing issues for the general public. This is especially troubling in border areas where appropriate land management is critical.

Following the discussion, the Deputy Commissioner stated that he will take the necessary actions to address the public’s concerns.
