National People’s Party (NPP) Conrad Sangma

SHILLONG:

National president of the National People’s Party (NPP) Conrad Sangma, on March 4, reacted to demands for a Khasi chief minister and said, “There are procedures to follow where a government is formed and a chief minister is elected and we are following that procedure.”

Sangma, who will be sworn-in as the chief minister of the newly formed coalition government on March 7, said, “Yes, sentiments are there but this is not about an individual from a certain community. That is not how democracy works. It is based on the mandate given by the people and people’s mandate is clear.”

Sangma also informed that the swearing-in ceremony will be held on March 7 at 11 am at Raj Bhavan whereby Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are expected to attend.
