East Jaintia Hills Celebrates 52nd Meghalaya Day with cultural extravaganza

In his address as the Chief Guest, Baranwal underscored Meghalaya's abundance of natural resources and emphasised the state's vast potential. He urged both government officials and the public to tackle their assigned tasks with dedication, regardless of the day-to-day challenges.

Khliehriat:

Celebrating the 52nd Meghalaya Day, the District Administration of East Jaintia Hills District gathered at the Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Khliehriat. The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal, who served as the Chief Guest. Accompanying him were Additional Deputy Commissioner G. Warjri, Assistant Commissioner F. Wann, district officials, traditional heads, teachers, and students.

In his address as the Chief Guest, Baranwal underscored Meghalaya’s abundance of natural resources and emphasised the state’s vast potential. He urged both government officials and the public to tackle their assigned tasks with dedication, regardless of the day-to-day challenges.

Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner Warjri delved into Meghalaya’s statehood movement in his speech. He highlighted Meghalaya Day as a reminder for all citizens to contribute their best efforts for the progress and development of the state.

The programme featured cultural dances performed by students from Khliehriat Higher Secondary School and Rymbai Government Secondary School.

It’s worth noting that while Meghalaya Day is traditionally observed on January 21 each year, this year’s celebration took place today due to January 21, 2024 falling on a Sunday.
