HM Shah confers President’s Colour Award to Assam Police

Assam became the 10th state in the country to receive the President’s Colours award.

Guwahati:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on May 10, conferred the President’s Colour Award to Assam Police for rendering exemplary service during the last 25 years, at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, among other dignitaries, were present at the do.

Later in the day, the Shah will attend an event to mark the first anniversary of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

Shah will also lay the foundation stones of various development projects in Guwahati, including the Commissionerate of a Police Office building.

Notably, Assam became the 10th state in the country to receive the President’s Colour Award, a special flag, which is the highest honour to be given to any military or police unit in recognition of exceptional service rendered to the nation, both in peace and war.
