Jyrwa resigns as HNLC VC, peace talks to continue under new leadership

The CEC has emphasised that Jyrwa's departure will not compromise the fundamental ethos and resilience of the organisation.

SHILLONG:

Sufiyan A. Hazarika, also known as, Manbhalang Jyrwa, has officially tendered his resignation from the post of Vice Chairman of Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) and Teimiki Laloo has been appointed as the new Vice Chairman by the CEC (Central Executive Committee) for a tenure of six months on September 28.

The CEC has emphasised that Jyrwa’s departure will not compromise the fundamental ethos and resilience of the organisation. The unwavering principles of the group remain steadfast, regardless of changes in leadership. The HynÅ„iewtrep community is urged to continue holding Manbhalang Jyrwa in high esteem, honouring him as a fellow human being.

Furthermore, the organisation earnestly hopes that the government will avoid exploiting Jyrwa’s resignation and instead prioritize the peace talks. It is emphasized that Jyrwa’s decision to step down will not obstruct the ongoing peace process. The delegation responsible for steering the peace talks will now be under the guidance of the newly appointed Vice Chairman, Teimiki Laloo.
