SHILLONG:
KHADC Deputy Chief Executive Member Pynshngain N Syiem on Wednesday informed that the border committee constituted by the Council is actively engaging in discussions with the regional committee for resolving the border dispute with Assam.
Replying to a question raised by opposition leader Titosstarwell Chyne, Syiem informed that till date both regional committees of Meghalaya and Assam have not visited the disputed areas due to various reasons.
While Chyne wanted to know the outcome of the meeting held between Meghalaya and Assam since there are members of the House who are also members of the regional committees, Syiem informed, “The meeting was between chairmen of all regional committees of Meghalaya and Assam and there was discussion on how to prepare with regard to the site visit but in the meeting a date was never fixed for the joint site visit”.
