Nongpoh:
Due to the frequent power shutdown and irregular power supply in Ri Bhoi area, the Khasi Student Union, Nongpoh circle on Saturday announced a public rally on August 2 to protest over irregular supply of power to the district.
Addressing a press conference, Baiashanlang Kharshanlor, general secretery KSU Nongpoh, informed that the union has been compelled to take this step as the state government, especially MeECL authorities, has failed to pay heed to the cries of the people in regularising power supplies despite several complaints.
The inconsistent power supply has affected the students and those who need electricity to run business establishments.
The KSU has decided to hold a public meeting along with a rally on August 2 which will start from NSCA, mini stadium at Pahamsyiem from 12 pm and culminate at SDO MeECL Nongpoh Division at Umlyngkdait.
The union has called for the people of the district to join the rally.
