The village dorbar of Lumdaitkhla in Bhoirymbong gathered on September 20 to inform and educate residents about the initiation of a solid waste management system aimed at ensuring a cleaner and more hygienic environment within the village.
The primary objective of this initiative is to address the ongoing challenges related to waste disposal and upkeep of the village.
The community decided to organise this Dorbar and implement solid waste management due to the persistent challenges faced in maintaining cleanliness within the village. A crucial aspect contributing to the challenge was the lack of a dedicated waste disposal facility for the waste generated from the bustling Bhoirymbong Market and its neighboring areas.
During the Dorbar, village leaders and representatives clarified a prevalent misunderstanding among some members of the public. It was essential to correct the misconception that the village was simply introducing waste disposal facilities. In reality, the objective is to introduce and promote Solid Waste Management practices that align with the community’s commitment to uphold public health and environmental standards.
