Meghalaya BJP to take views of public in drafting party manifesto for Lok Sabha polls

Shillong, Feb 28: Keen to reach out to the electorate in the state, the BJP in Meghalaya has decided to reach out to the public seeking suggestions in framing the party manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

As part of ‘Viksit Bharat Modi ki Guarantee’, Meghalaya BJP State President Rikman G Momin on Wednesday launched a campaign that seeks to include citizen’s suggestions in the party manifesto.

The primary objective of this campaign for the BJP is to collect public opinions which they believe will be instrumental in creating a vibrant, prosperous tomorrow for the nation and all its citizens.

Speaking on the occasion, Rikman G Momin stated, ‘as a party, BJP has always believed that democracy is public responsibility and the power to decide agendas should not be limited to a privileged few. With this campaign, we aim to create a manifesto that reflects a national consensus. What better example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji’s main mantra – saabka saath, saabka vikaas, sabka vishwas.’

The party claims this will be a unique way to ensure collective policy making and creating the ground work for participative governance, taking democracy to where it truly belongs – the people of India.

Under this campaign, the party office in each mandal will house a suggestion box where citizens can drop their suggestions on policies and agendas that are vital for national progress and inclusive development. Suggestions have also been invited from NGOs, self-help groups, various unions and associations, co-operatives and the people at large. Those unable to walk over to the party offices can submit their thoughts online via the NaMo app.
