Mizoram Police have been inducted into the London-based World Book of Records for their record-breaking disposal of drugs and recovery of smuggled exotic animals.
“The jury is glad to include Mizoram Police for carrying out mega disposal of substance 930. 229 kg of illegal drugs worth INR 23,62,09,40,245 (International market rate) on June 24, 2022,” a confirmation certificate signed by Santosh Shukla, barrister and CEO, said.
Another confirmation certificate signed by the same person said the jury was glad to include Mizoram for seizure of 468 species of exotic animals to be transported across Indo-Myanmar border in a single day on May 25, 2022.
The animals rescued by Mizoram at Champhai near Myanmar border on May 25 included four tortoises, 11 snakes, 442 lizards, four-toed sloths, two beavers, one wild cat and four pattos.
“Delighted by the outstanding work carried out by @mizorampolice whose sacrifices have been duly recognised by the #WorldBookofRecords,” Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga tweeted.
