TURA, Feb 19: A new committee of Tura’s Central Puja Committee, that oversees all hindu religious festivities in Garo Hills, has been formed during its annual general meet in Tura on Sunday with the focus being on strengthening cultural endeavours and community bonding.
The annual meeting held at SMELC hall in Tura was attended by the president of the Meghalaya CPC, Shillong, Mr Naba Bhattacharjee, representatives of different puja committees, zonal committees from Garo Hills and development committee leaders of Tura.
The new committee has Prabin Panthi as president, Bidyasagar Mishra, Jibananda Koch and D.K Newar as vice presidents and Arup Nag as the general secretary.
The annual general meeting emphasized on the commitment of the community towards preserving cultural heritage together with promoting unity and brotherhood among all sections of society.
