NONGSTOIN:
The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) team, West Khasi Hills Police arrested one person in connection with an alleged assault on a shopkeeper at New Nongstoin, on May 6.
Identified as Johnnystar Kharbani (28) of Mawkhlam-Nongpyndeng village, the accused was arrested by the ANTF from Shillong’s Polo, the police said, adding that Kharbani had alleged assaulted one Shaibandon Nongrum (38) of Tiehbah in the latter’s shop on May 4.
Following the incident, the police had registered a case at the Nongstoin Police Station and after thorough investigation, managed to apprehend the accused after 48 hours.
The police thanked the general public and the village defence parties (VDPs) for their continued support in ensuring peace prevail in the district.
