Education Minister and NPP leader Rakkam A Sangma, on April 13, exuded confidence about Shillong Parliamentary seat going to the National People’s Party’s kitty in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, in addition to the Tura seat that is already the party’s stronghold.
Sangma said come 2024, Shillong will see a new MP represented by the NPP. “I am 100 per cent sure,” he said.
When asked what made him so confident of NPP’s victory, Sangma said, “NPP is national party and you have seen the way the MDA I government performed in the last five years and the number of MLAs we have at present is a testimony of the love and trust the people have on the NPP.”
Furthermore, he added that the NPP is the “right party for Northeast to represent in the parliament.”
At present, the Shillong Parliamentary seat is represented by Meghalaya Congress president Vincent H Pala while the Tura Lok Sabha seat is represented by NPP leader Agatha K Sangma.
